Monster Hunter Freedom 3 topped Japanese software sales for the second straight week, outpacing strong initial sales for the highly anticipated Ni No Kuni, which finished second for the week.

PSP's remake of the Super Nintendo classic, Tactics Ogre, debuted in first place in the Japanese sales charts boosting PSP sales, while Wii sees Mario influenced sales surge. Dragon Ball Raging Blast 2 on PS3 (47,610 units) debuted in the second spot (no sign of the Xbox 360 version in the top 20), third place was Super Mario Collection Special Pack (43,621) which surpassed the half million units and Wii Sports Resort Wiimote Plus Pack sold 14,438 units and debuted at the 9th spot in the chart. God Eater Burst was dethroned this week and was placed at the 6th spot with 31,372 units sold. God of War: Ghost of Sparta only sold 9,406 units and debuted at the 13th spot. PSP and God Eater Burst retained the top spots on the Japanese hardware and software charts in the week ended November 7, 2010.
On the software front, God Eater Burst didn't beat Super Mario Collection and Pokemon Black & White by much. Three new entries made the software top ten - the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of Fallout: New Vegas, and DS RPG Radiant Historia. Read More after the break.. Japanese Sales Charts w/e Oct 31, 2010Following weeks of Pokemon and Mario dominance, Sony's platforms took back the Media Create top 10 this week, with two highly anticipated series titles placing first and second.
God Eater Burst, a followup to February's God Eater, debuted with over a quarter million units. The game is available as a solo purchase with all the original God Eater content included, or as an Append Disc for those who already own the original. Unlike the original, Namco Bandai also released Burst as a PlayStation Network download, but sales for this version are not included in the Media Create figures.
Winning Eleven 2011 debuted with over 200,000 units on the PlayStation 3. An Xbox 360 version was released simultaneously but did not place in the top 20 (Fable III and the "My Wife" wife simulation game did, however). PS2 and PSP versions of the game are due on November 18. PSP installments in the Konami soccer franchise tend to post impressive sales figures, so expect high placement. Also notable in these latest sales results, Super Mario Collection Special Pack, the 25th anniversary Mario bundle that combines a Wii version of Super Mario All-Stars with some bonus goods, looks poised to cross the 500,000 mark next week. Super Mario Collection, the 25th anniversary commemorative Wii version of Super Mario All-Stars, debuted in first place this week in Japan selling 307,755 units. The game dethroned Pokemon Black & White (81,915 units) from the first place in the charts, position that the Pokémon game had since its debut mid September. Pokemon Black & White remains unassailable at the top of the Japanese software chart, beating off stiff competition from Kirby's Epic Yarn and Square-Enix's Lord of Arcana in their opening weeks. Black & White has now sold over four million units, shifting a further 168,541 last week. In second, Kirby managed a total of 92,280. Handheld games claimed three of the top four spots, reflecting the ongoing dominance of the DS and PSP in the Japanese hardware market.
Kirby and Arcana are two of only three new entries to the chart this week, with NBA 2K11 opening at 19.
No other new titles debuted this week, though Sega's Black Leopard: A New Tale of Yakuza returns to the top 10 after falling from the charts last week. Full tables follow below. Not even Mickey or the power of Macross could dethrone Pokemon. Pokemon Black & White continued to dominate the Japanese sales charts selling over 230,000 units last week and getting closer to the 4 million units sold mark. Macross F. debuted in second place with 153,000 units while Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded followed in third place with 96,000 units. The Nintendo DS game appears to be on track to break the 4 million mark any minute now.
The latest Pokemon double release outsold its nearest competitor — K-On! Houkago Live!!, Sega's music game for the PSP based on the manga and anime K-On! — without much trouble. The majority of the top ten bestselling games in Japan were on portables, including Okamiden and the latest Yakuza game, Kurohyou: Ryu ga Gotoku Shinshou. The only console-based games to crack the top ten were Dead Rising 2 and Wii Party. Nintendo's Pokemon Black/White remains on top of the Japanese hardware charts after its very successful launch, selling more units this week than the combined sales of all other titles. For the week ended September 26, the popular DS duo sold 828,580 units, while Sega's debut Yakuza title on the PSP, Black Leopard: A New Tale of Yakuza, took the number two spot with 174,213 units sold, reports tracking firm Media Create.
![]() Black Leopard follows in the footsteps of Sega's previous Yakuza titles for PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3, featuring a new protagonist and marking the first time the series has appeared on the PSP. Nintendo's Wii Party found its way into the top three this week with 43,007 units sold, a slight bump from its 36,547 units sold last week. Several other new titles debuted in the top 10 this week, including the visual novel Durarara!! 3-way Standoff, Yeti's tactical strategy game Shin Koihime Musou: Otome Ryouran Sangokushi Engi, and Koei Tecmo's Winning Post 7 2010. Games falling from the top this week include Taiko Drum Master DS: Dororon! Battle With the Ghouls!! and Super Mario Galaxy 2, which hit the 11th and 12th spots, respectively. After Namco’s dominance in the Japanese software sales arena last week with Another Century’s Episode R on PS3, it’s now Capcom’s turn to take the crown and sell a whopping amount of games with debut title Monster Hunter Diary: Pokapoka Ailu Village for the PSP. This past week in Japan, Monster Hunter Diary: Pokapoka Ailu Village sold an incredible 256,000 units to easily become the top selling game in Media Create’s Japanese Software Sales Chart. Another debut title, Ace Combat X2: Joint Assault (also for PSP) sold an admirable 58,000 units to place in second on the sales chart. Wii Party keeps on trucking, now sitting at No. 3 from No. 2, and selling almost 55,000 units this past week in Japan to bring its life-to-date sales total in the country to 860,000 copies, while last week’s chart topper, Another Century’s Episode R, moves down to No. 4 on the chart and sells 28,000 copies. Another new title, Hakuouki: Zuisouroku Portable for the PSP, sold 24,500 units to occupy fifth place, as Inazuma Eleven 3: World Challenge!! Spark / Bomber sells almost 13,000 copies and shifts down from No. 4 last week to No. 6. Super Mario Galaxy 2 is a non-mover at No. 7 with 12,000 units sold (with a life-to-date sales total of 795,000 units), while Art Academy for DS is another stubborn title, content to remain at No. 8 with 10,000 units sold. Tales of Phantasia: Narikiri Dungeon X takes a walk down to No. 9 from No. 6 this week with 9000 copies, and Sengoku Basara 3 is forced down to No. 10 from No. 5 after selling only 9000 units.
